PRE-(and post-) COVID:
RollerCon raises money for charity in tons of fun ways! New in 2022:
Fair Fight is leading the charge to protect voting rights. Right now, the US is facing the worst attacks on voting rights since Reconstruction. Record turnout in 2020 created a backlash that renewed the insidious efforts to make voting more difficult by targeting Black, brown, young and other voters, and threatening their ability to have their voices heard. These efforts undermine our democracy. We plan to support Fair Fight with bout tickets and raffle contributions, so look for the voting rights booth in the lobby and get tickets for bouts that support Fair Fight! For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, a cure exists. Over the past 25 years Be The Match ® , operated by the National Marrow Donor Program ® (NMDP), has managed the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. It only takes a few minutes and simple cheek swab to be tested. Look for the Be the Match booth in the vendor area! More Be the Match info (on facebook).
The Environmental Defense Fund has spent 50 years forging solutions that help people and nature prosper. Their main goals include stabilizing the climate by curbing carbon emissions globally with bipartisan solutions that grow the economy, feeding the world by providing incentives for farmers, ranchers and fisherman to ensure lasting food security, and protecting our health with safer household products, chemical policy reform and corporate partnerships. Check out more about their work (and read their really interesting blogs!) at https://www.edf.org
Girls on Track Foundation‘s mission is to foster important life skills in girls through participation in roller derby as skaters and decision makers. Our own Ivanna (RollerCon Kingpin) serves on the founding Board of Directors with Booty Quake (Roller Derby Athletics) and Luludemon (Pivotstar Apparel), plus an advisory board made up of skaters you know well from RollerCon, too. National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) is a charity that is dedicated to restoring safety to Native women by supporting and upholding the sovereignty of Native tribes. Not only are indigenous women murdered at far higher rates than other people, but the disappearances and murders are under-reported, inadequately investigated and tracked, and rarely covered by news media. NPR reports on new research. We support the NIWRC with the ticket money you pay for games like the Nations Champs. Find out more about their work. at http://www.niwrc.org/
National Public Radio is an American non-profit media organization that serves as a national syndicate to a network of 900 public radio stations in the United States, and also broadcasts international content from news organizations like the BBC. Check out their news and podcasts: https://www.npr.org/
Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people worldwide. In spite of the fact that birth control and access to health care is essential to women’s lives—there are powerful people and organizations attempting to limit or deny women access to it. Find out more about what Planned Parenthood does: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/
The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada is a community-based organization that supports and promotes activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, its allies, and low to moderate income residents in Southern Nevada. We support their efforts with our Royal Shakedown performer tips and other activities! More info: http://www.thecenterlv.org/
RAICES, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, is a non-profit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to under-served immigrant children, families and refugees. The organization was founded in 1986 as the Refugee Aid Project by community activists in South Texas and has grown to be the largest immigrant legal services provider in the US. RAICES is a front line organization in the debate about immigrants in the US. For more information: raicestexas.org

What do we do with the food you leave behind at RollerCon?
The Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls have partnered with us to deliver your food to Three Square (a Feeding America partner). Look for the Three Square barrels in the convention area to help feed hungry people in the Las Vegas area!
Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. They combine food banking (warehousing canned and boxed goods), food rescue (obtaining surplus or unused meats, bread, dairy and produce from hospitality and grocery outlets), and ready-to-eat meals to be the most complete food solution for Southern Nevada. Please bring your unopened boxed and canned food for the barrels (and if you want to bring perishables, we put those out for the track crew, too). Thanks for helping!
We knew we wanted to support a women’s shelter with RollerCon donations, and Women’s Refugee Commission is kind of like a shelter with a wider view – the entire world. The Women’s Refugee Commission improves the lives and protects the rights of women, children and youth displaced by conflict and crisis. They have been especially active in protecting the rights of refugees and asylum-seekers in internment camps that have been in the news a lot in the last few years. They identify solutions and advocate for programs and policies to strengthen their resilience and drive change in humanitarian practice. Find out more: https://www.womensrefugeecommission.org
